Chicago > Meat

Provisional Proposition: A Site-Specific Drawing/Performance at the Intersection of Art, Meat, and Commerce. Images from performance on the evening of April 7, 2012, 5-7pm. Kasia Kay Art Projects Gallery, Chicago.

Four local meatpackers were hired to "process" a 100-foot drawing in the heart of Chicago's Fulton Market Meatpacking District.

This performance was conceived as a tribute to Brazilian artist Lygia Clark (1920-1988), patron saint of this project. Clark's "Caminhando" (1966) piece exerts a profound influence not only on this project, but upon an entire suite of current work which incorporate to varying degrees painting, drawing, performance, documentation, and community activism.

This project contributes toward an on-going debate over the future of the historic Chicago meatpacking district in Fulton Market.
